‘Developer cannot take extra charge for PNG connections’ | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Green Gas Limited (GGL) has clarified that there is no additional charge for piped natural gas (PNG) connections beyond the standard fee of Rs 6,000.The clarification follows the district administration’s intervention in a long-pending issue involving residents of Sushant Golf City, Ansal API.Residents had alleged that the real estate developer was charging extra — Rs 2,950 since April 2023 and earlier up to Rs 8,999 — citing an MoU with GGL.Resident welfare association president, Sushant Golf City, Ansal API, Mohan Lal Sahu said, “These charges were illegal and were already struck down by the LDA in Feb 2024. The developer was charging a fee on the pretext of the MoU signed with GGL.”Over 400 residents paid extra charges, as per RWA. Society has nearly 12,000 households. After PNG connections were made mandatory by the Govt of India last month, the RWA approached the Lucknow district administration, leading to the withdrawal of extra charges.Vijay Pratap Singh, the district supply officer, said, “The RWA of Sushant Golf City, Ansal API approached us and their concerns were genuine. The real estate developer had no right or excuse to charge extra for PNG connections beyond the standard fee. The developer has been communicated about the same.”GGL maintained that the MoU only ensured network availability and had nothing to do with additional fees.Praveen Singh, deputy general manager marketing of GGL, said, “Since Sushant Golf City, Ansal API is a potential market for PNG service, an MoU was signed with the real estate developer. Beyond the standard fee, which is also refundable, GGL has not charged any consumer extra.”He added, “GGL is aggressively expanding its network in Lucknow, and ensures to restore the patches where the ditches are dug up for laying medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) pipelines for PNG network. Therefore, the residents of any housing society don’t need to pay a single penny to anyone barring the standard fee of GGL for PNG connections.”
