Speeding SUV runs over labourer sleeping on Tedhi Pulia flyover | Lucknow News

Lucknow: A tragic road accident in the Gudamba area claimed the life of a labourer after a speeding SUV mounted a divider and ran over him in the wee hours of Thursday. Police said that the vehicle belonged to Additional CMO of Balrampur.The incident occurred around 12.30 am on the Tedhi Pulia flyover when the vehicle, reportedly attached to the health department on contract, lost control while travelling from Khurramnagar towards Engineering College.According to officials, the driver suddenly lost control, causing the vehicle to climb onto the divider where the victim was sleeping. The labourer, who reportedly lived on the divider, was trapped under the vehicle and dragged for some distance.Police said the impact caused severe head injuries to the victim, who died on the spot. His identity is yet to be established. Locals stated that the deceased used to sleep and cook at the same location.Eyewitnesses said the SUV swerved dangerously after the collision due to high speed but regained balance after a short distance, narrowly avoiding overturning. Both occupants of the vehicle escaped unharmed.The vehicle was carrying Ajay Shukla, who survived the accident without injuries.Passers-by alerted emergency services, following which police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem examination. The vehicle has been seized, and the driver has been taken into custody for questioning.Police said some belongings were recovered from the deceased, but his identity remains unknown. Efforts are underway to identify the victim and inform his family, said ACP, Ghazipur (Indiranagar), Anindya Vikram Singh.
