Lucknow: A three-year-old girl died while her mother escaped with minor injuries after a mobile phone battery allegedly exploded while it was being charged in UP’s Kushinagar on Wednesday.The girl, Srishti, lived with her mother Murti Devi and a year-old brother. Her father Singhasan Prasad works in Punjab.
Around 10am, Murti Devi put her mobile on charging and kept it on a thatched roof. The mother-daughter duo sat below when the phone reportedly fell on Srishti’s head and exploded with a loud blast.The impact left the child critically injured. Neighbours rushed her to a local medical college. After initial treatment, doctors referred her to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur, where she succumbed to her injuries.Sources said the family performed the last rites without informing the police. Murti Devi said, “I never imagined it could explode. My daughter was sitting next to me… everything happened in seconds.”
