KNIT bags top slot in state’s first SIRF list | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Evaluating technical education institutions to improve quality, the UP govt on Monday announced the first state institutional ranking framework (SIRF) for degree-awarding institutions. Scoring 234 points out of 300, Sultanpur’s Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology bagged the top slot, followed by Rajkiya Engineering College, Azamgarh, and Kannauj with 206 and 202 points, respectively. The performance was assessed from Jul to Dec 2025.The technical education department designed SIRF on the lines of the NIRF to assess and rank degree-level institutions under it. It evaluated institutional performance on common parameters and assigned rankings accordingly, to help institutions compete with each other in a positive environment.The other degree-level institutions that made it to the top 10 include Bundelkhand Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jhansi, with a score of 200; Rajkiya Engineering College, Ambedkarnagar, with 197 points; Rajkiya Engineering College, Sonbhadra, with 196 points; Maa Pateshwari Devi Rajkiya Engineering College, Gonda, with 184 points; Rajkiya Engineering College, Banda, with 181 points; LADH Rajkiya Engineering College, Mainpuri, with 180 points; and Rajkiya Engineering College, Bijnor, with 161 points.Additional chief secretary, technical education, Narendra Bhooshan said, “SIRF is a standardised quality benchmarking framework that will aid in enhancing teaching-learning processes, focusing on infrastructure and strengthening hands-on learning. It will promote workshops and seminars, research culture and outcome-based accountability, and will enable targeted interventions.” The department also released the SIRF for diploma-level institutions. While Kanpur’s Govt Polytechnic bagged first place with 89.4 points (out of 300), Lakhmipur Kheri’s Govt Polytechnic scored second with 89.3 points, and Govt Polytechnic, Bareilly, was in third place with 88.8 points.
