Anpara thermal power station wins national award | Lucknow News
Lucknow: UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited’s (UPRVUNL) Anpara thermal power station has been awarded the performance excellence award for state generating stations (FY 2024–25) at the O&M conference – Indian power stations 2026, held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.The award was presented during the three-day event organised by NTPC corporate operation services from Feb 13 to 15.
The honour was conferred by secretary Union ministry of power Pankaj Agarwal, and NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh. Anpara power station in Sonbhadra and one of Uttar Pradesh’s largest coal-based power plants, was recognised for its strong operational performance, efficiency and reliability. The plant forms a key part of UPRVUNL, which has a total generating capacity of 9,646 MW, making it the second-largest state generating company in the country. UP state electricity board engineers association general secretary Jitendra Singh Gurjar said the award reflects the technical expertise, disciplined operations and consistent efforts of UPRVUNL engineers working under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and state power minister Arvind Kumar Sharma. He also urged the state govt to allocate the proposed Anpara ‘E’ (2×800 MW) and Obra ‘D’ (2×800 MW) projects entirely to UPRVUNL to raise the state’s generation capacity, which currently stands at 9,646 MW against a peak demand of around 32,000 MW.
