UP Congress announces new legal team | Lucknow News

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee on Friday announced the appointment of office-bearers of its legal department, including regional office-bearers and divisional, district and city chairpersons, following approval from the All India Congress Committee (AICC).The list was cleared after recommendations by AICC general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh, Avinash Pande, and state Congress president Ajay Rai, the party said in a statement.

UP Congress legal department chairman Ali Asif Juma Rizvi said the reconstituted legal team would work to strengthen the party’s voice across the state. “The legal department of UCC is committed to working as ‘Nyay Yoddhas’ (warriors of justice),” Rizvi said. He added that in the coming days, the department would not only provide legal assistance to party office-bearers and workers but also extend support to individuals who were suffering under the “authoritarian” policies of the current govt. Rizvi said the legal department was providing assistance to the family of Hariom Balmiki of Fatehpur, indicating that the party intended to take up select cases at the district level.
