KGMU panel postpones stir

Lucknow: A joint committee of teachers, resident doctors, nursing staff and employees of KGMU on Tuesday postponed its proposed boycott of OPD services after receiving assurances of action from the additional chief secretary (home) in connection with the Jan 9 ruckus at the Vice Chancellor’s office. The boycott was called over alleged vandalism, misbehaviour with women on campus, and delay in registering an FIR in the case. The general secretary of the KGMU Teachers’ Association, Prof Santosh Kumar, said that the vice chancellor met the ACS (home) and submitted video footage and other evidence related to the incident. “The ACS assured that action will be taken. Following this assurance, we decided to postpone the boycott call. However, no date was fixed yet for reviving the boycott if action is not taken,” he said.
