Yogi encourages youth to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Encouraging the youth to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekananda, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said there was a time when nobody listened to India, but now the world cannot function without it. Today, when PM Narendra Modi speaks, the world follows, he said, adding: “Amid global turmoil, every country is asking Modiji to do something. India’s youth power is the symbol of this faith in Modiji.”Speaking at a programme in Lucknow on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, observed as the National Youth Day, Yogi said that Swami Vivekananda had firm faith that India would establish itself as the world guru on the strength of youth power and spiritual consciousness. Praising Vivekananda for introducing India’s culture and spiritual consciousness to the world, the CM said that he gave India and Indianness a new identity.
Swami Vivekananda’s inspiration guides us in every situation, he said, adding that his growth from Narendra to Swami Vivekananda was a journey from a seeker to a path breaker. His message was that success cannot be achieved until there is focus on the goal, steadfastness in resolve, and continuity in action, the CM said.Yogi also paid homage to Mata Jijabai, the mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, on her birth anniversary.Recalling the contributions of Swami Vivekananda, the CM said that he represented an India which had little self-realisation. The country was enslaved by foreign rulers, he said, who looted it and humiliated its culture, and traditions were being humiliated. It was then that the youth monk Swami Vivekananda played a pivotal role in awakening the dormant consciousness of India and making it aware of its Indianness, he said. He quoted Swami Vivekananda’s speech from the Chicago Parliament of Religions, where he said that he came from that tradition of India which showed the path of human welfare and that he was proud to be a Hindu.Addressing the Yuva Mangal Dal and Mahila Mangal Dal, the CM said that he had two expectations from them. He said that they should form sports teams at gram panchayat levels and hold competitions at block, district and state levels so that good teams can be set up in the state. He said that if youth participate in sports competitions, they will also play a major role in village development through teamwork. He also sought their involvement in water conservation by ensuring check dams, Amrit Sarovars and the revival of old wells in villages. He appealed to youth to stay away from drugs and added that the govt will run a campaign against drugs.
