Link your mobile number to voter ID in minutes: UP CEO

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa has urged voters to link their mobile numbers to their electoral photo identity card (EPIC) to have greater convenience and speed in managing voter-related services. The process is simple and can be completed entirely online through the Election Commission of India’s portal at voters.eci.gov.in. Voters begin by registering or logging in using their mobile number or email. After logging in, they select Form 8, the form used for corrections and updates to electoral roll entries.

On the next screen, users indicate whether the application is for themselves or someone else, then enter their EPIC number. Once submitted, the system displays key voter details including name, state, assembly constituency, part number, serial number, and relative’s name. After verifying the information and clicking ‘OK’, voters choose the option ‘Correction of Entries in Existing Electoral Roll’. Rinwa emphasized an important tip: for smooth linking, the name on the Voter ID should match the name on the Aadhaar card. If there is any mismatch, voters should first contact their local Booth Level Officer (BLO) to correct the details offline using Form 8 before proceeding with mobile linkage. The benefits of this linkage are substantial. New voters who include their mobile number while filling Form 6 can download their digital e-EPIC within 10–15 days of their name being added to the voter list, avoiding the usual delays associated with receiving a physical card by post. Once linked, voters can download or re-download their e-EPIC anytime from home, as many times as required. Additionally, a linked mobile number enables instant access to critical information. Through the ECINET mobile app or the website electoralsearch.eci.gov.in, voters can quickly find their polling station number and serial number in the voter list by entering their EPIC details or simply scanning the QR code printed on their card—results appear in seconds.Shifted to other locations during SIR?
