Woman dies by suicide after lover refuses to marry her | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A 24-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide after her boyfriend refused to marry her and was later sent to jail, police said on Sunday. Her body was found hanging from a tree in a field in the Bardah police station area, triggering shock and grief in the village.According to police, passers-by noticed a body hanging from a tree near Akbali Kuti, on the outskirts of Bardah village, early Sunday and alerted villagers and the police. A team from Bardah police station reached the spot and later identified the deceased.
The woman’s mother alleged that her daughter was under emotional distress after the man she was in a relationship with refused to marry her. “We approached the boy’s family for marriage, but he declined. A complaint was filed, and he was sent to jail on January 6. My daughter could not bear it,” she said.Police said forensic teams were called to the spot and evidence was collected. The body was sent for autosy. Police said further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and statements recorded from family members and witnesses.The victim’s father works as a labourer in Chandigarh.Station House Officer, Bardah, Rajeev Singh, confirmed that an FIR was lodged against the woman’s boyfriend by her family, following which he was sent to jail last week.
