Lucknow: The Mahindra Sanatkada Lucknow Festival, slated from Jan 30 to Feb 2, is set to transport you on a mesmerizing journey, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Lucknow and Kolkata.According to organisers, the five-day extravaganza will feature Awadhi craft demonstrations, a weaves & crafts bazaar, an Awadhi home cooked food festival, an Umrao Jaan car tour, a dhaak performance, a Husn-e-Kaarigari-e-Awadh craft walk, and Bengali qissagoi.Kicking off the festival, the inaugural day features a weaves & crafts bazaar and craft demonstration at Safed Baradari. The evening comes alive with a thrilling dhaak performance by Padma Shri awardee Gokul Chandra Das and his troupe from Bengal, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration. There will also be a mesmerising performance by an acclaimed Indian folk and Sufi music collective Murshidabadi project. On Jan 31, the key events include Taana-Baana Lucknow-Calcutta Ka, Heritage Experiences Feminists Of Awadh Par Salaam, car tour with Adity Chakravarti, intentional art & craft practices with open doors workshop, Qasbati Lazzat E Khaas Lunch at Nyotani Lazzat E Khaas lunch at Sultan Palace, Wazirganj, by pre registration only, lippan art demonstration at Safed Baradari, and ‘food, economics and society; keynote lecture by Abhijeet Banerjee at Amir Ud Daula Public Library. The major highlights of Feb 1 are Seher – Concert At Dawn by Ustad Irfan Muhammad Khan & Ustad Ilmas Husain Khan Sarod And Tabla Jugalbandi Amritlal Nagar Takht, Raja Ram Pal Singh Park; Heritage experiences Francisi Awadhi Ta’alluqaat – Car Tour with Deep Dive India Lucknow Ki Reha’ish – Walk with Adity Chakravarti; The Last Nawab’s Legacy: Qaiser Bagh Photowalk with Basil Hashmi; City As Impression: Art, Archive and Lucknow Dilnavaz Mehta – On Her Collection Of Lithographs From Lucknow Naseem Iqtidar Ali Literary Guftugu, Amir Ud Daula Public Library. On Feb 2, there will be a photowalk with Basil Hashmi on ‘The hidden Gem of Harzratganj’; Poor Economics: A Radical Rethinking of the Way to Fight Global Poverty with Abhijit Banerjee at Malviya Hall, Lucknow University; Husn-e-Kaarigari-e-Awadh – Craft Walk With Noor Khan; Heritage Experiences War Chronicles – Residency Walk, Bengali Golpo Qissagoi and Haziri at Begum Akhtar Mazaar Pasand Bagh. On the concluding day, there will be ‘HUZN’: Tracing Migration, Music And Art Histories Between Lucknow And Calcutta by artist Soumyadeep Roy at Raja Ram Pal Singh Park and ‘Rhythms Of Calcutta’ by Gokul Das Dhaaki and his troupe.
