AAP questions SIR voter data, alleges mass deletions | Lucknow News
“BLOs were forced to delete names of certain communities to benefit BJP. AAP members will now help people whose names were wrongly deleted. We will get their names registered again and bring such cases before the public,” Singh said.“Names of over 2.9 crore voters were deliberately struck off from the voter list in the state. This is not electoral reform, but a planned conspiracy to deprive the poor, backward, Dalit, minority, Yadavs, Muslims and working class of their voting rights,” he said.Singh alleged that the Election Commission was using arbitrarily created categories to delete votes.According to it, 25 lakh voters were registered in two places, more than 2 crore voters were declared as ‘shifted’ or ‘untraceable’, and 45-46 lakh people were shown as dead. Singh said that 84 lakh voters were deleted as they were allegedly not found at home.“Lakhs of people shown in ‘shifted’ category went to work in other states. If they are not voters there and their names were struck off in UP too, where did their voting rights go? Will crores of migrant workers in the country be excluded from democracy,” Singh questioned. He also attacked the EC for demanding 13 types of documents to get names added within a month, saying that an illiterate labourer would not have access to any of the documents being demanded.“EC does not have the authority to conduct such a comprehensive revision. We appointed about 6,000 BLAs and will be appointing more so that they can help people whose names were struck off the list,” he said.
