Lucknow: In a breakthrough in the abduction and murder case of Kabir alias Shiv Prakash, Nigohan police recovered a mobile phone allegedly used in the crime after taking 2 key accused in police custody remand, officials said on Tuesday.Kabir alias Shiv Prakash’s half-burnt body was found in Unnao on Nov 16. An FIR was registered at Nigohan police station under BNS sections, including those related to murder, destruction of evidence, and criminal conspiracy. Police investigation revealed that on Nov 15, Kabir was forcibly abducted from Lalpur village. He was subsequently murdered, and his body was taken to Vighapur in Unnao district, where it was set on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence. Six accused were named in the case, including Sujit Kumar Srivastava and Dilip Kumar Rawat, identified by police as the masterminds of the crime. While all accused were arrested on different dates, police said they were repeatedly misled during interrogation about the whereabouts of the mobile phones used during the crime, including the victim’s handset. Based on new inputs that emerged during the course of the investigation, police moved an application before the court seeking police custody remand of Sujit Kumar Srivastava and Dilip Kumar Rawat to facilitate recovery of the electronic evidence. The court granted a 24-hour police custody remand on Jan 6. During fresh interrogation, the accused led the police team to bushes near a drain under a bridge on the Rae Bareli Highway, close to Vrindavan restaurant in the Dudauli area. Following extensive search, police recovered a blue-coloured keypad mobile phone allegedly used in the incident, along with the back cover of another mobile phone.
