Book fair for govt libraries & schools

Lucknow: After making newspapers compulsory in state-run schools, the secondary education department is now gearing up for a book exhibition to facilitate the selection of books for govt libraries and schools at a single location.The book exhibition is being held to select informative and up-to-date books for govt libraries and schools in the state. Additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma wrote to directors of eight departments, including urban development, basic, secondary and higher education, local body, social welfare, Sanskrit Sansthan and UP Bhasha Sansthan, stating that the secondary education department (library section) is selecting informative and up-to-date books for govt libraries and schools in the state. In this regard, the department invited sample books from various reputed publishers and deposited them at the Book Distribution Centre, Lucknow, which houses a vast collection of excellent books on diverse subjects, including literature, science, art, competitive examinations, and general knowledge.
