Lucknow: With temperature dropping to 6 degrees Celsius, Lucknow experienced the coldest night this winter season so far on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. This temperature was minus 1.8 degrees below normal. Drop in minimum temperatures was due to radiation effect, as the uplifted fog cleared cold conditions intensified. The city shivered during the daytime. Not only state capital but the night temperatures dipped below five in nearby areas, including Kanpur and Etawah. Born fires were lit on the roads throughout the night. Roads wore a deserted look with many not venturing out of their homes even on Sunday. According to weathermen, the conditions are likely to remain the same with the city to be engulfed in dense fog during morning hours. “There will be no further drop in the day and night temperatures but there will be dense fog during morning hours,” said Mohammad Danish of the state met department. On Sunday, the maximum temperature recorded was 16.9 degrees Celisius. On Monday shallow fog during late night/morning hours and partly clear sky later. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 17 and 8 Degree Celsius respectively.Meanwhile, in the state weather is most likely to be dry all over the state. Dense to very dense fog is very likely at isolated places over West-Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog is very likely at isolated places over East-Uttar Pradesh. Not only Lucknow but other districts too experienced cold days and nights with lowest minimum temperatures recorded in Kanpur 3.2 degrees celsius followed by Etawah 3.8 and Barabanki 4.4 respectively. Meanwhile maximum temperatures were recorded lowest at Muzaffarnagar 12.8 and Fatehgarh 14.8 degrees celsius respectively.
