Urge parents to send kids to school in full winter uniform, UP asks teachers | Lucknow News
Lucknow: As the intense cold wave remains unabated, additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma asked all block education officers (BEOs) to immediately convene a meeting with the head teachers to encourage parents to send their children to school wearing complete winter uniforms after school reopens. Govt schools are closed until Jan 14.Issuing directives to BEOs across all 75 districts, Sharma said that head teachers in primary and upper primary schools should ask parents to use the money transferred to them by the govt through DBT to purchase sweaters, socks and shoes, thereby ensuring that the biting cold does not have any adverse effect on the health and education of the children.Sharma said it is the responsibility of parents to send their children to school regularly wearing their uniforms when the govt provides financial assistance to students of primary and junior high schools through DBT every year. “And given the severe cold currently prevailing in the state, wearing proper winter uniforms (shoes, socks and sweaters) to school is even more essential,” Sharma said in his order. The directives came following strict instructions from chief minister Yogi Adityanath in view of persistent cold wave conditions, dense fog and concern over the safety of students.
