Lucknow: A day after a 20-year-old man from Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, was stabbed to death in broad daylight, angry villagers blocked roads on Thursday demanding strict police action against the accused.Police later confirmed that both the accused—Naushad (23) and Faisal (21)—had been arrested and named in the murder of Nishant Singh.Superintendent of police Keshav Kumar said preliminary investigation revealed that Nishant’s friend, who was in a romantic relationship with Naushad’s sister, aged 19, was targeted over the couple’s photograph that was posted on social media. The dispute escalated into a violent confrontation, culminating in Nishant being stabbed to death.As per the FIR lodged on the complaint of the victim’s father, Naushad and Faisal intercepted Nishant when he was heading to Kasya market near Judwania village to buy household items. They allegedly attacked him with knives, and inflicted multiple blows to his neck, chest and abdomen, killing him on the spot. Nishant’s friend, who was accompanying him, was also assaulted when he tried to intervene. Local residents rushed them to district hospital where Nishant was declared dead.
