Anarchy & goondaism at its peak under BJP govt: Akhilesh | Lucknow News
The former UP CM cited the recent incident in which videos went viral on social media showing members of right-wing outfit – the Hindu Raksha Dal – distributing swords to residents of Ghaziabad to prepare them for a “Bangladesh like situation where Hindus were being single out and targeted”. Police took note of the social media post and arrested 10 persons of the outfit including its national president Pinky Chaudhary.Another video that went viral on social media was that of Japanese tourists being cornered by a group of youths for wearing swimsuit and a Santa Claus hat at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi on Dec 25. The tourists were made to apologise before being spared. Since the tourists did not lodge a formal police complaint, no action was initiated against those seen harassing them in the video. The incident however drew a lot of flak on social media. In an apparent reference to the two incidents, Akhilesh said UP Police has completely lost its control over the anti-social elements and the studied silence maintained by the chief minister and BJP govt on such incidents has only taken its toll on the law and order situation in the state. Govt’s claims of zero tolerance towards crime and criminals have proved hollow, the former UP CM said.
