KGMU panel rejects claims of bias towards a community in contractual hiring

Lucknow: The fact-finding committee constituted by KGMU refuted allegations of disproportionate representation of a particular community among its contractual employees.The committee, comprising former DGP and ex-Information Commission chairman Bhavesh Kumar Singh and Prof Anjoo Agarwal, head of the obstetrics and gynaecology department, met on Monday to review complaints raised by various organisations.

In its findings, the panel described the allegations as baseless, stating that out of 3,995 contractual non-teaching staff, only 289 belong to minority communities. In the pathology department, just 2 of 51 contractual employees are from minority groups, while in the POCT section, the figure stands at 25 out of 174.KGMU also formed a separate committee headed by Prof K K Singh, with Prof R A S Kushwaha and Prof Anjoo Agarwal as members, to handle all media communications related to the issue.
