City prof gets IHC award for book on Nalanda’s past

Lucknow: Prof Anand Singh, who teaches in history department of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), received the prestigious Prof Annapurna Chattopadhyaya Award by the Indian History Congress (IHC) for his book ‘Nalanda: A Glorious Past’.The award, conferred on Prof Singh on Sunday in the inaugural session of the 84th session of the Indian History Congress by its president, Prof Rajan Gurukul, at Kannur, Kerala, is given for the best book on Ancient India from a regional perspective, published in the past two years. Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan was the chief guest.The award highlights scholarship that brings forth local and specific historical narratives within the broader scope of Ancient Indian History and carries a prize money of Rs 25,000.This book extensively deals with various facets of ancient Nalanda University and its contribution to the vast expanse of Asia.
