Gosainganj BJP corporator injured in attack | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A BJP corporator was injured in a violent attack by assailants who even aimed a gunshot at him but the bullet failed to discharge, in Gosainganj area on Friday night. Police arrested three named accused in connection with the incident, while efforts are on to nab the remaining suspects.Gosainganj Nagar Panchayat corporator Akhilesh Gupta was ambushed by a group of armed men. According to complaint filed by his brother, Shubham Gupta, the assault was pre-planned. He alleged Sudhir Bhatt, Shravan Bhatt, Mohammad Rashid and two to three unidentified accomplices attacked the corporator with iron rods and sharp-edged weapons. During the assault, the attackers allegedly attempted to fire from a country-made pistol, but the weapon malfunctioned. Akhilesh Gupta sustained serious injuries to his hands and legs and rushed for medical treatment. Dilesh Kumar Singh, SHO of Gosainganj police station, said FIR had been registered. TNN
