‘Coming to you, forgive me’: UP man posts WhatsApp status with dead wife, hangs self in hotel room | Lucknow News
LUCKNOW: A 27-year-old man was found hanging in a hotel room in Barabanki, UP on Tuesday morning, soon after putting up a WhatsApp status with a photograph of his first wife.Alok Verma, a resident of Jalalpur village, in his Whatsapp status said, “I am coming to you. Please forgive me, everyone,” reported police.Hotel manager Anshik said Verma had been staying at the hotel frequently over the past few months, often booking rooms two to three times a week. On Monday around 9.30 pm, he booked room 110. The next morning, staff noticed that the door remained closed and a mobile phone was ringing continuously inside. Despite repeated knocks and calls, there was no response.The hotel management informed the police, who arrived and opened the room. They found Verma hanging from the ceiling fan with a plastic rope.Family members told police that Verma’s first wife had passed away and that he had remarried. “He appeared normal and gave no impression that he could kill himself,” they said, as quoted by PTI.City Police Station SHO Sudhir Kumar Singh said the matter is under investigation and that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.
