Stage set for Colvin’s Darbar Day

Lucknow: Old boys week festivities began at Colvin Taluqdars’ College with sports competitions, featuring Past Boys versus Present Boys matches of volleyball, tennis, archery and football on Wednesday bringing together alumni from all over to celebrate college’s 136-year legacy. Indoor games and shooting are scheduled for Dec 18, followed by Cultural Evening on Dec 20. A friendly cricket match between Past and Present Boys will be played on Dec 21 and celebrations will conclude with Darbar Day on Dec 23 .

Colvin Taluqdars’ College, was founded by Sir Auckland Colvin, Lt Governor of Agra and Avadh in 1889, with the object of imparting education to the Wards of the Court and sons of Taluqdars of Avadh. The College started functioning in 1892 exclusively for sons and near relations of Taluqdars. The College was thrown open to all in 1933 for greater benefit of all segments of the society. In 1945, the college started classes in Intermediate Science with the help of its parent body, British Indian Association, Avadh.
