With special prayers, Holy Week begins on a reverent note in city churches

Lucknow: Churches saw an impressive turnout on Monday as Christians observed Holy Monday, the second day of Holy Week or Passion Week, with special prayers, solemn services and hymns ahead of Easter.From early morning, worshippers gathered at churches, lit candles and offered prayers in a reverent atmosphere marked by spiritual reflection.Choirs sang traditional hymns during the services, while sermons focused on faith, repentance and devotion.At Assembly of Believers Church in Daliganj, priest in-charge Parag Wesley spoke about the significance of Holy Monday and urged devotees to draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.At Epiphany Church in Lalbagh, volunteers helped manage arrangements as large numbers attended the service. A 30-member choir sang hymns. Theodore Kingsley Chattree, a member of the congregation, delivered a message centred on peace, reflection and abstinence from sin.At Assembly of Believers Church in Aliganj, choir members sang hymns. Sister Anjali Pawar, in her sermon, urged devotees to follow the values taught by Jesus Christ.“Years ago, Jesus showed us the path of honesty, truthfulness, kindness, mercy and self-denial, which we should follow to live a sublime life,” she said.
