‘Learn empathy from Lord Ram, improve medical care’ | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Patients will benefit more from compassionate care if medical students adopted values such as empathy, responsibility and humane behaviour. Integrating these values into medical care “from the character of Lord Ram” was the focus of Shri Ram Janmotsav 5.0, a two-day programme organised by Vedant Bharat at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences.The programme was a joint effort of doctors, medical students and scholars to discuss relevance of texts like the Ramcharitmanas and Valmiki Ramayana in healthcare.Officials said such discussions can help future doctors develop a stronger sense of duty towards patients. Chief medical superintendent Prof Vikram Singh said doctors must commit to ensuring patient well-being and that ethical conduct can strengthen doctor-patient relationships.RMLIMS director Prof C M Singh said discussions on values and discipline influence treatment and decision-making and can contribute to better healthcare delivery. Speaking at the event, RSS Awadh Prant Pracharak, Kaushal, said teachings associated with Lord Ram emphasise harmony, compassion and social equality. The event also featured research presentations on themes including ethics, healthcare and psychology.
