FIR against former UP seed corporation chairman after firing over land dispute | Lucknow News
Lucknow: At least six people were injured after firing and a violent clash broke out between two groups over a land dispute in Kalyanpur village in Sultanpur on Sunday night.Police registered an FIR against nine named accused, including a former chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Seed Development Corporation, while the station house officer (SHO) was suspended for alleged negligence on Monday. According to police, the dispute involved Dilajeet Yadav and his neighbour Arvind Yadav over a piece of land. On Sunday, Arvind Yadav, Aman Yadav and Anand Yadav allegedly arrived at Dilajeet’s house along with several others armed with pistols, revolvers and sticks. Among those named in the FIR were former UP Seed Development Corporation chairman Rana Ajit Pratap Singh, his son Abhijeet Singh, Arun Singh, Satish Singh of Chandipur, Amit Singh, and Halchal Tiwari of Nempur, besides some unidentified persons. The complainant alleged that the accused attacked his family with the intention to kill them. During the assault, the attackers allegedly beat family members with sticks and fired several rounds from firearms to create panic. A bullet struck Sanjay Yadav (25), the complainant’s nephew, below the waist. In the attack, Sanjay’s mother, Shobhavati (50), sister Roshni (24), Prankush Yadav (18), Kamlesh (42) and Vipul Yadav (16) also sustained injuries after being beaten with sticks. All the injured were first taken to the community health centre and later referred to PGI in Tanda. Superintendent of police, Sultanpur, Charu Nigam, ordered a departmental inquiry into alleged negligence by Akhandnagar SHO Sant Kumar Singh and circle officer Kadipur. The SHO was suspended, while the additional superintendent of police was asked to probe the role of the officers. Police registered a case of attempt to murder and other relevant charges against the nine named accused and some unidentified persons.
