Hair loss stress drives 17-yr-old girl to suicide | Lucknow News
Lucknow: A 17-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide in Kanshiram Colony of the Para area on Saturday night. According to her family members, she was under severe stress due to prolonged hair loss, police said. She had been undergoing treatment for the past six years but remained distressed as her hair did not regrow, the family claimed.
Sub-inspector Kuldeep Verma, posted at Thakurganj Police Station, said the girl’s father worked abroad. On the fateful day, the girl’s mother and brother had gone to attend a wedding ceremony, leaving her alone at home. In the meantime, the girl allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan using a scarf. When her mother returned, she found her daughter hanging. The family rushed her to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead, police said. Deceased relatives said that the girl often faced taunts due to her condition, which contributed to her mental distress. Police handed over the body to the family after the post-mortem examination.
