2 bros who shot at ex-IAF officer held

Lucknow: Nearly three weeks after a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) officer was shot outside a shopping complex in Sushant Golf City, police on Thursday arrested a man and his brother who allegedly carried out the attack to “settle a score” stemming from a road rage incident last year.DCP (south zone), Nipun Agarwal said Durgesh Mishra (31) and his younger brother, Amit Mishra (24), residents of Amethi, were arrested from Sushant Golf City by a joint team of the south zone surveillance cell and Sushant Golf City police.

The victim, Awadhesh Kumar Pathak, a retired IAF officer, runs a cloud kitchen at Shopping Square in the Ansal complex. On Jan 30, he was about to enter his car when one of the accused allegedly fired at him. Police said the shooting was triggered by a road rage incident on Nov 28, 2025. According to investigators, Amit told police that while attempting to overtake Pathak’s car which bore an IAF sticker near Arjunganj, his motorcycle stalled. An argument followed, during which the former IAF officer allegedly humiliated him. On Jan 30, the brothers visited the shopping complex. Additional DCP (south) Vasanth Rallapalli said Durgesh allegedly approached Pathak on the pretext of asking about a shop, while Amit fired at him with a country-made pistol. The case was registered under section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Arms Act.
