MCF to roll out Vande Bharat CC rake soon | Lucknow News
Lucknow: The Modern Coach Factory (MCF) Rae Bareli is set to roll out its first-ever 16-coach Vande Bharat chair car rake this month, marking a major leap in its manufacturing capability.MCF general manager Prashant Kumar Mishra said the project reflects MCF’s growing role in India’s premium train production ecosystem. Currently, the rake is undergoing extensive test by team of RDSO. Once approved by technical team, the railway board will green signal to MCF for take’s commissioning.Mishra said MCF has manufactured 1,679 coaches this financial year, contributing to a cumulative output of 15,369 coaches since April 2014. Of the current year’s production, 95% are general and sleeper coaches intended to serve common passengers. He also noted that special efforts are underway to scale up Vande Bharat chair car manufacturing.MCF has surpassed the railway board’s forged wheel targets, producing 54,075 wheels by Jan 2026, with over 49,000 fully completed and stamped. The unit also reported extensive environmental initiatives, including large-scale plantations and rainwater harvesting structures capable of storing 748 million litres.
