Metallic wires a constant threat to Metro rail | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Chinese manjha and wire used for kite flying also affect the operations of the Lucknow Metro, with repeated accidents reported between Amausi airport Metro station and Munshipulia.Metro officials said metallic kite string comes into contact with the 25,000-volt overhead equipment (OHE) lines, leading to damage to traction systems and disruptions in train services. Entanglement of the conductive thread with live wires poses a serious safety hazard and can result in delays for commuters.Officials warned that the metallic manjha is highly conductive and can cause instant electrocution if it comes into contact with high-voltage lines. There is also a risk to people flying kites near the Metro corridor, apart from danger to maintenance staff.UPMRC termed the use of Chinese manjha illegal and said FIRs are being lodged against people found responsible for damaging Metro assets. The corporation launched awareness drives in residential colonies along the affected stretch.
