Over 62L families benefitted under PMAY (U) in 9 yrs: CM | Lucknow News

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that in the past nine years, more than 60 lakh families were given housing benefits in rural and urban areas of the state, and with the addition of over 2 lakh families on Sunday, the number has reached 62 lakh.“For the first time since independence, the dream of a permanent house was fulfilled for such a large number of families,” the CM said while transferring the first instalment amount to the accounts of 2.09 lakh approved beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 from Uttar Pradesh, during a programme at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Lucknow.“It is a historic step for the poor, middle class, and urban needy. Nodal officers should be appointed in municipal bodies to ensure that there is no irregularity at any level with any beneficiary, construction material is available on time and at appropriate rates, and instalments are released on time.”“Swachh Bharat Mission brought a revolution. People have now started living with cleanliness. Govt removed mafia and people removed dirt, due to which Uttar Pradesh progressed. Today, Rs 2,094 crore was sent directly to the accounts of beneficiaries,” the CM said.“On Mauni Amavasya, so far 4 crore people took a bath in the holy Triveni in Prayagraj. Getting the first instalment of housing scheme on such a holy occasion is a special gift for the beneficiaries,” he said.While congratulating the beneficiaries, the CM appealed to them to write a “thank-you letter” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed confidence that, by completing the housing construction in a time-bound manner, the state would be made stronger and self-reliant.Yogi said that the districts with the highest number of beneficiaries include Ghaziabad, Bareilly, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Pratapgarh, Aligarh, Bijnor, Kushinagar, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Maharajganj.Citing examples of Ayodhya and Sonbhadra, Yogi said how, after getting housing, families started e-rickshaw, dairy, etc, work and achieved economic self-reliance.“This achievement is the result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and leadership. Housing is not just a roof, but the foundation of self-reliance. Along with housing, facilities like toilets, electricity connections, Ujjwala gas, and Ayushman cards are being provided,” he said.The programme was addressed virtually by Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
