1st batch from Lucknow Police trains in latest social media tools | Lucknow News

Lucknow: In a first, investigation officers of the Lucknow police commissionerate were formally trained in the advanced use of social media and open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools to strengthen criminal investigations and information gathering.The 1-day workshop was organised on Monday by the commissionerate’s specialised training branch at the Reserve Police Lines, in compliance with directives of the UP govt and police headquarters. The programme was held under the directions of police commissioner Amarendra Kumar Sengar and the supervision of joint police commissioners Aparna Kumar and Babloo Kumar.More than 170 police personnel, including investigation officers, social media SWAT team members, 2023-batch sub-inspectors, and technically trained constables, participated in the workshop. The training was conducted under the supervision of ACP (women crime/cyber crime) Saumya Pandey, while technical sessions were led by UP ATS social media cell in-charge sub-inspector Arvind Kumar Verma and his team.Officials said the training would benefit the public by enabling faster detection of criminals, quicker resolution of cases, and stronger evidence-based prosecutions. “Criminal activity leaves a digital trail. By training our investigation officers in OSINT and social media tools, we are ensuring that crimes are detected quicker and evidence is gathered scientifically,” Kumar said. “For the public, this means faster investigations, timely arrests and stronger cases in court. Citizens will benefit from improved response to cybercrime, fraud, missing persons cases and organised crime, as police are now better equipped to trace suspects using technology rather than relying only on traditional methods,” said JCP Babloo Kumar.
