Two from Rajasthan arrested with morphine worth Rs 1 crore in Jhansi

Jhansi: A joint team of Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and local police arrested a 58-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man from Rajasthan and seized 1kg of banned contraband morphine worth Rs 1 crore, which they were supposed to deliver in Ghazipur.The accused belong to Patri Girdharpur village in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan.Circle officer (city) Laxmikant Gautam said the police received a tip-off after which the joint team intensified surveillance. and caught the duo near a petrol pump in Kotchabhawar area of Jhansi. ANTF in-charge Chandan Pandey and Navabad police station in-charge Ravi Srivastava nabbed the duo near a petrol pump close to the local bus stand.During the search, the accused were found carrying around morphine concealed in their clothing.“A case was registered against them under Section 8/21/29 of the NDPS Act. We are trying to find details of the dealers in Ghazipur as well as the source of its origin,” Gautam said.
