Three arrested for bludgeoning street vendor to death over Rs 10,000 | Lucknow News
Lucknow: Vikasnagar police on Sunday claimed to have solved a gruesome blind murder case in which Sonu (28), along with 2 aides, allegedly killed a street vendor over a dispute involving around Rs 10,000.They repeatedly smashed his skull with a brick 10 times before fleeing with cash taken from his pocket.
The murder came to light on Dec 30 last year, after a Dial 112 call alerted police about a man lying unconscious and bleeding near Vikasnagar crossing. The injured man was rushed to Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. The post-mortem confirmed death due to severe head injuries caused by blunt force trauma.The deceased was identified as Lalaram (40), a lai–chana vendor from Sitapur district who used to set up his cart at the spot and sleep beside it at night. On a complaint by his wife, Kiran Devi, police registered a case against unknown persons.SHO, Vikasnagar, Alok Kumar Singh scanned footage from around 1,289 CCTV cameras across multiple routes and locations. Combining technical evidence with ground intelligence, police identified and arrested all 3 accused on Sunday.Singh said the accused had an earlier dispute with Lalaram over money, estimated at around Rs 10,000. Nursing a grudge, the trio allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the spot where the vendor slept. Late at night, when the area was deserted, they attacked him while he was asleep. Sonu allegedly delivered repeated brick blows to the victim’s head, while the others assisted. After the murder, the accused allegedly looted Rs 7,240 from the victim’s pocket.Those arrested were Sonu (28), Dhanraj (19), and Rahul alias Shiva (25).
