Lucknow: Dense fog and low visibility conditions disrupted air traffic on Thursday, forcing several flights bound for Varanasi to divert to Lucknow.IndiGo flight 6E2334 from Delhi to Varanasi was diverted to Lucknow with 216 passengers on board. Refreshments were served onboard, and passengers did not de-plane before the aircraft resumed its journey.
Air India Express flight IX2975 from Bengaluru to Varanasi also diverted to Lucknow and parked at Bay-11. Initially, passengers remained onboard, but later the flight was cancelled, and all 159 passengers were transported to Varanasi by bus.Similarly, Akasa Air flight QP1498 from Mumbai to Varanasi was diverted due to poor visibility. With 185 people onboard, the flight was cancelled, and passengers were sent to Varanasi by road.SpiceJet flight SG392 from Mumbai to Varanasi faced the same fate. After diversion, the flight was cancelled, and passengers were provided alternate arrangements, including bus transportation to Varanasi.Another Air India Express flight, IX184 from Sharjah to Varanasi, was also diverted to Lucknow. The flight was cancelled, and passengers were de-planed with onward travel arranged by the airline.Airport officials confirmed that all affected passengers were provided refreshments and ground transportation as airlines worked to minimise inconvenience caused by adverse weather conditions.
