Cabinet approves dissolution of JS Univ for issuing fake certificates | Lucknow News
Lucknow: The Cabinet approved the dissolution of JS University, Shikohabad in Firozabad district, and gave approval for issuing a Letter of Permission (LOP) for the operation of an off-campus centre of IIMT University, Meerut, in Greater Noida.Higher education minister Yogendra Upadhyay said that investigations carried out at JS University showed that the university issued fake and backdated mark sheets and degrees for the course, thereby violating the rules. These documents were used by selected candidates in the Rajasthan Physical Education Teacher Recruitment Examination 2022, following which the case was probed by the Rajasthan Police, after which the Chancellor and the Registrar were arrested.
Upadhyaya said the inquiry committee constituted at the govt level revealed serious anomalies. “JS University violated rules and regulations that included misuse of the authority to award degrees, distribution of fake mark sheets and degrees, failure to comply with mandatory land norms, and non-submission of required details to the Uttar Pradesh State Higher Education Council,” he said. Upadhyay added that after the dissolution, all records of JS University will be kept under the custody of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, and verification of previously issued mark sheets and degrees will be carried out based on these records. Along with this, it was decided to constitute a 3-member interim committee under Section 55(6) for the operation of the university’s activities during the dissolution period. The Cabinet also decided to establish an off-campus centre of IIMT University, Meerut, in Greater Noida. With the commencement of this off-campus centre, new opportunities for higher education will be created in western Uttar Pradesh and the NCR region, and students will be able to access quality education within their own region, Upadhyaya said.
