Police: Dispute over social media post led to youth’s murder | Lucknow News

Lucknow: A daylight murder of a 20-year-old youth in the Kasya area of Kushinagar triggered public outrage on Thursday, with villagers blocking roads and demanding strict action, including an encounter and bulldozer action against the accused. Police later confirmed that both accused — Naushad (23) and Faisal (21) — were arrested and named in the murder of 20-year-old Nishant Singh on Dec 31.The victim, Nishant Singh (20), son of Santosh Singh, a resident of Amarpur village under Kasya police station limits, was stabbed to death in broad daylight near Judwania village while he was heading to Kasya market to purchase household items. The incident occurred around 1pm on Dec 31.According to the FIR lodged by the victim’s father, Nishant was intercepted near Judwania village by Naushad, son of Anwar Ali, and Faisal, son of Murtuja — both residents of Judwania village. The two allegedly attacked Nishant with knives, inflicting multiple blows to his neck, chest and abdomen, killing him on the spot. Nishant’s friend, who was accompanying him, was also assaulted when he tried to intervene.After committing the crime, the accused fled the scene. Locals took the critically injured Nishant to the district hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.Kushinagar SP Keshav Kumar said that a preliminary probe revealed that Nishant’s close friend, who was in a relationship with the accused’s (Naushad’s) sister aged 19-year-old, was targeted over a post. The post was a photograph of Naushad’s sister and Nishant’s friend. The dispute escalated into a violent confrontation, culminating in Nishant being stabbed to death.Santosh Singh submitted a written complaint at Kasya police station, based on which a case of murder was registered. Senior police officers said swift action was initiated immediately after the registration of the case. Naushad was arrested first, followed by the arrest of Faisal.The SP told TOI that on the fateful day, both were incited by the friends to handle the issue, following which they met in Kasya market while Naushad carried a knife. Nishant’s friends, who came to tackle the dispute over the photo, soon fled after Naushad picked up the knife. Finding Nishant alone, Naushad stabbed him multiple times and fled.
