Police push for safe Magh mela festivities

Lucknow: With lakhs of devotees beginning to arrive for Magh mela 2026, UP additional director general of police (law and order) Amitabh Yash on Monday reviewed security preparations with a clear focus on pilgrim safety and ease of movement. From the integrated command and control centre (ICCC), he assessed crowd management plans, emergency response systems and inter-agency coordination to ensure a smooth and secure experience for visitors.During interactions with senior officers, the ADG stressed that sadhus, saints, kalpvasis, bathers and devotees must face no inconvenience while accessing bathing ghats or staying in the mela area. He directed officials to prioritise safe, obstruction-free routes, adequate lighting, signage and timely completion of public facilities.
