Lucknow: As intense cold wave continued to sweep Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday ordered closure of all schools up to Class 12 till Jan 1 and issued a series of directions to administrative officials to ensure public safety, especially for children, the elderly, and the homeless.The closure order of all schools up to Class 12 applies uniformly to all educational boards, including CBSE, ICSE, and the UP Board. The CM instructed the officials to ensure strict compliance with the order in all districts.
Yogi also asked senior officers, district magistrates, and police officials to remain actively present in their respective areas and conduct regular field inspections to monitor the impact of cold wave.He stressed that administrative vigilance on the ground was crucial to prevent any loss of life due to exposure to extreme cold.Emphasising relief measures, the CM instructed officials to ensure adequate arrangements of blankets and bonfires at public places, roadside shelters, and vulnerable locations in every district. He said that no person should be forced to sleep in the open during the cold wave.Special instructions were issued to strengthen facilities at ‘rain baseras’ (night shelters) and said that all shelters must be equipped with adequate bedding, blankets, heating arrangements, drinking water, lighting, and basic medical assistance. Officials were asked to personally verify that homeless people were shifted to shelters and provided with necessary support.The CM warned that negligence in implementing cold wave relief measures would not be tolerated. “The state govt remains fully committed to protecting lives during extreme weather conditions and expects all departments to work in close coordination to ensure relief reaches every needy person,” he said.District administrations have been asked to submit regular reports on relief operations and preparedness as the cold wave continues to intensify across Uttar Pradesh.
