Lucknow: State govt on Sunday suspended three staff members at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College (GSVMMC), Kanpur, after a living patient was erroneously declared dead.Acting on the directions of Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, a junior resident doctor, a staff nurse and a ward attendant posted in the medicine department were placed under suspension. The action followed an incident in Medicine Ward No 12, Bed No 43, where police intimation (PI) was sent treating a living patient as deceased.A three-member inquiry committee has been constituted to examine the matter. The panel is headed by GSVMM Vice-Principal Dr Richa Giri, with Chief Medical Superintendent of Lala Lajpat Rai and associated hospitals Dr R K Singh and Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Saurabh Agrawal as members. The committee has been asked to submit its report within three days.Pathak termed the incident a serious lapse and directed officials to ensure accountability and take steps to prevent such occurrences in future.
