CIMAP prepares to launch phase four of Aroma mission | Lucknow News
Lucknow: CSIR Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), after receiving the prestigious Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 for the aroma mission, is all geared up to work on Aroma 4.0 Mission. Phase four of the mission is set to begin in April this year.“In Aroma Mission 4.0, the focus is mainly on those crops that are widely imported into the country. Hence, we are likely to come up with substitutions or other solutions. Geranium, lavender, patchouli, citronella, salvia, and others are our priority as they are mostly imported,” said CSIR CIMAP director Prabodh Kumar Trivedi. He said these crops are used in essential oils in medicine, perfumes, cosmetics, and aromatherapy for calming stress, balancing skin oil, and repelling insects. The plants themselves flavour food, make potpourri, and offer traditional remedies for skin issues, pain, and digestion, with benefits stemming from their antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and astringent properties.Recently, the CSIR–Aroma Mission, led by the CSIR with the CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow, as the nodal centre, was conferred the prestigious Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025 under the Vigyan Team Award category. The award was presented at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where President conferred the honour upon scientist and director, CSIR-CIMAP and Mission Director, CSIR–Aroma Mission, Prabodh K Trivedi.
