Lucknow: City’s Soniya, Anamika Yadav and Ragini Upadhyay clinched gold and silver medals, respectively, in final match of the ongoing state senior women boxing tournament at KD Singh on Wednesday. In 10 categories, gold medal was won by Jhansi’s Rinky Kishori in light flyweight (45-48 kg) category; Aligarh’s Kusum in flyweight (48-51 kg); Agra’s Babita in bantamweight (51-54 kg); Gorakhpur’s Ice Prajapati in featherweight (54-57kg); Lucknow’s Soniya in lightweight (57-60 kg); Varanasi’s Sarita Rai in welterweight (60-65kg); Saharanpur’s Aastha Pahwa in Light middleweight (65-70 kg); Jhansi’s Imroz Khan (in middleweight 70-75 kg); Meerut’s Sneha in light heavyweight (75-80KG) and Saharanpur’s Mansi in heavyweight 80-81kg).Athletics trials: Selection trial of Lucknow district’s athletics team for 60th UP State Cross Country Athletics Championship will be held at KD Singh Babu Stadium, 8 am onwards Saturday, Dec 27. According to B R Varun, secretary of Lucknow District Athletics Association, age for selection should be 16 years between 25.01.2010 and 24.01.2012 (Men/Women 2 km), 18 years between 25.01.2008 and 24.01.2010 (Men 6 km, Women 4 km), 20 years between 25.01.2006 and 24.01.2008 (Men 8 km, Women 6 km). Additionally, selections will be held for men and women above 20 years for 10 km. Varun said athletes participating in selection must bring their AFI UID along. Para Judo trials: Senior Division Women and Men Judo Selection Trials are being organised by Lucknow District Judo Association and Regional Sports Officer Lucknow at Indian Para Judo Academy, Halwasiya Court, Hazratganj, Lucknow. Selected players will represent Lucknow in Senior State Samanvaya Women and Men Judo Championships to be held at Eklavya Sports Stadium, Agra from Jan 4 to 6, in Coordination with Sports Directorate UP and UP Judo Association.
