Ayodhya: A 14-year-old boy died after being shot under suspicious circumstances in Tihuara Uprahar area in Ayodhya on Tuesday late evening.The victim was identified as Alok Verma.
A stray bullet allegedly struck his stomach when local resident Anis Yadav and his associates were loading an illegal pistol to show dominance in the area. It is suspected that the firearm discharged accidentally, resulting in the teenager’s death. There is also speculation that Anis was making a reel with the illegal pistol when it went off, fatally wounding Alok. After the incident, the youth who fired the shot fled the scene. Ayodhya SP city Chakrapani Tripathi said the accused has been arrested and the weapon used in the killing had been recovered. “It was a country made pistol of .32 bore and the same calibre of bullet was fired during the incident,” said the SP, adding that the accused do not have any criminal records Alok was playing badminton at the time of the incident. In critical condition, he was taken to Medical College Darshan Nagar, which referred him to Lucknow, on way to which he died.
