Engage with people’s reps: Asim to officers | Lucknow News
Lucknow: At a time when public representatives have been complaining that govt officers often do not pay attention to their issues, receive their calls or respond to their problems, minister for social welfare Asim Arun has written to his department, directing them to meet public representatives regularly and ‘benefit from their suggestions and experience’.Calling public representatives an important link between govt and the administration, Arun said as soon as an official assumes charge in his department, that officer should contact the concerned public representatives and meet them at the earliest. In addition to this, officials should also inform public representatives about the schemes being implemented by the department and provide them with assistance in implementing those.
“They should also be told how officers can cooperate in the operation of these schemes. Officers should share their mobile numbers with public representatives and also take their numbers, so that mutual contact becomes easier,” Arun said.He has further written if the presence or intervention of a public representative might help in resolution of any matter, they should be apprised of it at the earliest.“To make departmental services better and public-oriented, officers should utilise the knowledge, experience and suggestions of public representatives. Quick and time-bound action should be taken on matters referred by public representatives and they should also be informed about the action taken,” the letter adds.
