Lucknow: Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya on Tuesday said the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram celebrates its historical and cultural significance in the development of India’s historical identity.“It confirms unity, cultural awareness and nationalism in modern India,” said Maurya in the UP Legislative Council, starting a special discussion on 150 years of Vande Mataram.

He added that: “At such a time when we are discussing 150 years of Vande Mataram, what we have as a target in front of us is making India and UP developed by 2047. That will be 100 years of independence at that time. This only is Vande Mataram.” He said Vande Mataram is about women empowerment, which is happening under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “There were many families who did not have resources to build a house. Today, 4 cr poor families have pucca houses under PM Awas Yojana. These houses also have toilets. The Har Ghar Nal scheme is providing water to everyone. This is Vande Mataram,” he said. Every citizen will feel the real essence of independence only when they get benefits of govt schemes, said Maurya, adding that more than 64 cr bank accounts were opened after the Modi govt came to power in 2014. PM Gareeb Kalyan Anna Yojana is giving free ration to 80 cr people. The double engine govt has made electricity available to every house, he added. He also talked about the PM’s Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative that is about every person planting a tree under the name of his mother for environment conservation. “Ram Mandir is Rashtra Mandir, and its construction is true Vande Mataram,” he said, adding that over 65 cr people taking a dip during Prayagraj Maha Kumbh was Vande Mataram.
