Japanese 5s principle helps AIIMS achieve excellence

Lucknow: AIIMS Rae Bareli has embraced the Japanese principle of 5S to improve its overall functioning. Addressing the institute’s seventh foundation day, its president Dr RV Ramani, said: “Quality is the essence of life, and excellence is quality. We have recently integrated the Japanese principle of 5S to achieve excellence in every sphere.The principle of 5S speaks for a Total Quality Management protocol followed across workplaces and organisations. It includes Seiri (Sort), Seiton (Set in Order), Seiso (Shine), Seiketsu (Standardise), and Shitsuke (Sustain). Together, they are known to boost efficiency, quality, and safety by creating a clean, orderly, and disciplined environment, reducing waste, and fostering continuous improvement.

Earlier, executive director Prof Amita Jain presented a report on the progress made by the institution and the upcoming projects. Dean Dr Neeraj Kumar presented 25 MBBS students who excelled in academics to be awarded by the luminaries. TNN
